The Subsonic API is one of the most widely adopted self-hosted music server protocols, supported by Navidrome, Airsonic, Funkwhale, and others. Adding support would significantly broaden Chromatix's reach beyond Plex and Jellyfin, ticking off compatibility with a large slice of the self-hosted music community in one go.

macOS 26.5.1 Chromatix 0.6.0 (0.6.0) Plex Media Server A lot of my releases are gapless continuous DJ mixes, and it seems like Chromatix adds a few milliseconds of silence between each track when it plays the next, making it impossible to listen to them. The tracks are in FLAC 16-bit 44.1kHz format. I’ve tested the same tracks using the Plexamp MacOS app and can confirm the same tracks play gapless there.

Just felt like there should be an option to shuffle play all the albums/tracks that are under the genre/style/collection/mood groups

I'd love to have a little image for all the album and artist genres, moods and styles. Even if it was a little png file that was a different color for each mood/style/genre and just overlayed the first album cover in the mix. I feel like it would really add nice aesthetic to those pages that feel very empty right now.

Now that Linux app builds are working and available, it would be useful to make the app available on Linux package managers such as apt, pacman, dnf etc. As suggested here.

I would love a home screen where it gives you some quick options from your list of playlists, artist, recent uploads…etc. I think it would be nice as a landing page for opening the player. Thanks!

Any way to sort artists by the "Sort Artist" field rather than the default Artist field? I have Yankovic, Weird Al for "Weird Al" Yankovic and that's how I would like to see artists sorted. Taken from https://www.reddit.com/r/chromatix/comments/1sgq5gr/artist_sort_order/

I would love to have the option to right click the tracks for More info overview (Things like below, that Plex offers out of the box). I use the “lyric” feature in Plexamp a lot. Would appreciate a similar “get lyrics button” that opens the lyrics up in a popup/sidebar of some sort. Cursory research shows that while Genius (by far the optimal source in my opinion) has a free API they do not offer any actual lyric content over it due to legal issues. However, there seem to be a number of maintained clients that fetch Genius lyrics by scraping the web page directly, such as https://github.com/zyrouge/node-genius-lyrics. Plex uses https://www.lyricfind.com/ but that costs money and the song availability, at least in Plexamp, is very substandard compared to Genius. Obviously when the implementation options are as problematic as they seem to be I would understand that this feature may not be feasible for the project. Maybe something like node-genius-lyrics could be implemented in the desktop version only, set to default as off depending on performance?

Would be interesting to be able to add a ollama instance and pick a model to be able to give something akin to Spotify Blend or DJ but all processed locally!

Instead of rating songs out of 5 stars, be able to to just “star” a song. This would essentially add the ability to like a song, without me having to actually rate it out of 5. This makes it easier for me to keep an updated “<3 Tracks” playlist. Plexamp has this feature. Maybe they just rate the song 5/5 behind the scenes and abstract it away from me the user.

In the list, it could be nice to be able to go to a specific section of the list while typing a letter on the keyboard. For instance, typing “G” will scroll directly to the first element of the list which starts with the letter “G”. Not sure about the behaviour when there’s no matching item in the list.

From Reddit: Is there a global hotkey support for Chromatix? I couldn't find anything yet. If there is not, please consider adding it to the Feature Requests? It would be great to be able to start/pause/skip tracks as I can do in Musicbee or other players.
