I use the “lyric” feature in Plexamp a lot. Would appreciate a similar “get lyrics button” that opens the lyrics up in a popup/sidebar of some sort. Cursory research shows that while Genius (by far the optimal source in my opinion) has a free API they do not offer any actual lyric content over it due to legal issues. However, there seem to be a number of maintained clients that fetch Genius lyrics by scraping the web page directly, such as https://github.com/zyrouge/node-genius-lyrics. Plex uses https://www.lyricfind.com/ but that costs money and the song availability, at least in Plexamp, is very substandard compared to Genius. Obviously when the implementation options are as problematic as they seem to be I would understand that this feature may not be feasible for the project. Maybe something like node-genius-lyrics could be implemented in the desktop version only, set to default as off depending on performance?

Would be interesting to be able to add a ollama instance and pick a model to be able to give something akin to Spotify Blend or DJ but all processed locally!

Instead of rating songs out of 5 stars, be able to to just “star” a song. This would essentially add the ability to like a song, without me having to actually rate it out of 5. This makes it easier for me to keep an updated “<3 Tracks” playlist. Plexamp has this feature. Maybe they just rate the song 5/5 behind the scenes and abstract it away from me the user.

In the list, it could be nice to be able to go to a specific section of the list while typing a letter on the keyboard. For instance, typing “G” will scroll directly to the first element of the list which starts with the letter “G”. Not sure about the behaviour when there’s no matching item in the list.

Just tried the app (mac & browser) and note that none of my lossless or hi-res ALAC files can be played … I get a playback error. I have tested with a few mp3 files and they play OK. Unfortunately, ~95% of my library is ALAC so the app doesn’t currently work for me. Any plans to support ALAC playback?

At present, managed accounts (such as those created by Plex Home) may not work with Last.fm scrobbling. It seems that only users listening from their own server can currently scrobble tracks.

Chromatix is bundled for macOS and Windows using Electron. It should also be possible to bundle the app for Linux, but I’m not a Linux user with any knowledge of the platform, and my first experiments building for Linux didn’t work. I think the ecosystem may be quite complex, requiring different type of builds for different Linux distros. I hope to pick this up again down the line to get this working, as it’s been requested by a few people.

I am inclined to make queue management behave in a similar fashion to Spotify. Queue management will require the implementation of various other UI features first, such as context menus and popup/modal windows, and a drag-and-drop interface for reordering items. This is planned, but I cannot provide an expected timeframe.

Along with Jellyfin integration, multiple account management is intended to be added, so that you can log in to multiple accounts across both Plex and Jellyfin at once, with easy switching in the user menu. One of the bigger complexities here is that user preferences are currently linked to your Plex account ID. A new system will need to be created where preferences can be linked to multiple accounts, and remain consistent even if you log in/out of additional accounts.
