Chromatix is bundled for macOS and Windows using Electron.

It should also be possible to bundle the app for Linux, but I’m not a Linux user with any knowledge of the platform, and my first experiments building for Linux didn’t work.

I think the ecosystem may be quite complex, requiring different type of builds for different Linux distros.

I hope to pick this up again down the line to get this working, as it’s been requested by a few people.

    There are now Linux builds of Chromatix desktop app available here:

    https://github.com/chromatix-app/chromatix-release/releases

    I'm not a Linux user personally, and am not familiar with the Linux experience or installation processes, but I've tried to do my research and test things in some virtual machines and I think it's working as expected.

    Would love to know how people get on!

    There are AppImage, .deb and .rpm packages available for both x64 and ARM64.

    I am a Linux user, and I’m tremendously excited to see Chromatix built for it. The “distro-agnostic” way forward is to package it as a Flatpak. There’s a tremendous amount of documentation out there for packaging Electron apps as Flatpaks, and the big distros have settled upon a common technology stack for music players (MPRIS and Pipewire).

    Edit: To add additional context, I check the subreddit and chromatix.app itself almost daily for new changes and Linux support. I’ve tried using it as a Webapp with varying success. I love to see a full desktop-size Plex music player available!

    I’m out of touch with programming, but I’d be happy to test any builds.
